NO
PRESSURE MEADSY…
As
Bradley Ball was up 1/0, Barry (still him!) announced at the mic the
results of the next door court, he lightly mentioned :
“It’s not looking good for Unisport Guilford at present, as we haven’t won
any games, so no pressure at all, Steve”…
And as Meadsy likes to please, he gave the first two games to his team…
Don’t you just loooove the old guard… |
GUITAR
PLAYER LOOKING FOR A BAND…
No, I’m not trying to find another job (I’m already on my 4th career), but
Ian Robinson is…
“I bought a new guitar a few years back, and I’m been practicing a lot.
I’ve heard that Malcolm Willstrop now has a band, and I’m just waiting for
an invitation”…
Does the word “don’t give up the day job” apply in this case? Wouldn’t
know, never heard the man play, but I promise I’ll let you know as soon as
I hear anything.....
…Literally!

JACQUI: NEVER STANDING STILL…
Yes,
I must admit that this picture is not my best one ever, but then again,
I’ve got a pretty good excuse, as the woman never stopped running, working
constantly, making sure that everybody had everything they needed before
they even knew they needed it!
“Jacqui is our deputy manager here at the Varsity Centre, she’s been
working with us now for 20 odd years. She is both pleasant and efficient,
well respected from both sides of the counter, and she mothers all the
staff…” said Barry Hitchcock about his colleague.
Hear hear….. |
BUNTHA, A PROUD MOTHER…
We nearly saw a brother and a sister in the ranks of Unisport Guilford, as
Brandon and Katie Hanley were schedule to play tonight, but the 16 year
old girl had some health problems last year.
“Last week Katie started to hyperventilate and was taken to hospita,l”
explained Buntha, the mother of the Hanley marvels.
“So she is still trying to recover from it, and hopefully, she should be
feeling better really soon.”
“Having kids on the circuit is years and years of weekends spent driving
them around, it’s time consuming, it’s a lot of stress. But is it worth
it? Oh yes, absolutely, it’s fantastic to be part of it all…
I just love meeting new parents…

THE
WORLD IS TOO LOW…
Before all the PSL matches, players of both teams are introduced one by
one, and as Ben Ford stepped into court, he bumped his head on the glass
top part of the door.
“Well, if Ben bangs his head, I can’t wait to see how Brandon is going to
do…” smiled Barry Hitchcock, Sports Director and Compere of the evening…
Yes, Ben is not a small lad, but heck, have a look at Brandon!!!!!

PLAYER
OF THE MATCH…
And
the oscar goes to… Bradley Ball…
Unisport Guilford has put in place what I consider to be a brilliant
initiative. Each week, one sponsor offers a magnum of good French
Champagne to the players considered to have displayed the most astounding
performance of the night.
Last week, Steve Meads got the bubbly, and today, guess who was asked to
choose the lucky winner? Yop, I was…
I hesitated a bit, I must say, between yet again Steve Meads (what are we
ever going to do if he retires one day???) and the second on the list of
the English players who have won the most PSA titles.
I
can see you scratching your head…
Yes, it is Bradley Ball I’m talking about, and that fact was confirmed to
me by Howard Harding, Mr Press Officer in Chief. The first on the list is
Peter Nicol, obviously, with 49, and then comes Bradley Ball on 11,
followed I believe by Nick Taylor!
We all know that Brad has been going through a bad patch physically, that
has now transformed into a total loss of confidence of the young English
player in his game. But he showed a lot of guts tonight, and rightly
deserve this great Champagne Bottle offered by imustard.com, a website
design company, one of the sponsors of the evening…
Bottoms up, Bradley… |
